Top 10 songs of ‘07…
Musically, I thought 2007 was pretty great. Album of the year? Sky Blue Sky for sure with Hold Steady’s Boys and Girls in America a close second. Honourable mentions to Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse (Back in Black was actually released in the UK in ‘06 but whatever), Bright Eyes, Arcade Fire, and Iron & Wine’s best album yet.
Top songs…
1. Either Way – Wilco
2. Stuck Between Stations – The Hold Steady
3. Back in Black – Amy Winehouse
4. Do Me a Favor – Arctic Monkeys
5. Four Winds – Bright Eyes
6. Flightless Bird, American Mouth – Iron & Wine
7. Friday Night at the Drive-in Bingo – Jens Lekman
8. Unless It’s Kicks -Okkervil River
9. No Cars Go – Arcade Fire

Good choices. I’ve been too lazy to do this myself
Glad “…Drive-in Bingo” made your list. Its winsome lightness always makes me smile.
No Andrew Bird? Did he miss by an inch or a mile? How about Neil Young’s Chrome Dreams II? Nina Nastasia and Jim White?
And – gasp – nothing from Mother HIps’ KTCF? I am truly shocked.
Guess I really should make my own list
It’d be about 50 songs though!

Andrew Bird would’ve bee 12 or 13 – Armchairs would’ve made it. Neil, Bruce and *definitely* Nina/Jim would all be in top 20. Hips were right there (probably 11) but I just couldn’t find room.
10 is tough, it was a good year (agreed?) Let’s see your 10 Jess.

Not to mention LCD Soundsystem and Richard Hawley!
This top 10 is definitely not a 10 best songs in the context of the history of popular music. It’s just a random sampling of my best companions.
